“This training provided WSHU with the needed framework to really understand the work that we need to do, how we want to accomplish the work and a way to communicate the change and importance of this work to our different stakeholders.”

Find out what the electorate wants politicians to address

In collaboration with influential journalism professor and media critic Jay Rosen, Hearken has created a step-by-step guide to an audience-centric reporting method that better serves voters.

We call it The Citizens Agenda — it’s public-powered journalism applied to elections coverage.

Using training, alongside our Engagement Management System, we help teams launch this alternative approach.

As we’ve been training newsrooms in deploying the Citizens Agenda and engaged elections approaches, we’ve seen measurable progress.

A third-party study from Professor Sue Robinson at the University of Wisconsin-Madison found “… substantial differences in approach, including movement away from game frames and towards explicit attempts to be more transparent and relevant to their particular constituencies.”
